Roles

Administrator Role

The "Administrator Role" is a permission that can be set via the /server edit command.

The administrator role can be a normal role without any special permissions but Submitty treats users with that role the same as it would treat administrators and server owners.

This adds security to your server because granting administrator privileges to a user always has some risks.

Moderator Role

The "Moderator Role" is a permission that can be set with the /channel general edit command. Users with the moderator role are able to approve/deny/close submissions and add comments to them.

Vote Role

Users with this role are allowed to vote on open submissions.

Channel Types

Review Channel

If set, user submissions will first be sent to this channel. Server owner, administrators, [moderators][#moderator-role] can review and approve/deny submissions from here. If a submission is approved, it will be sent to the submission channel. If a submission get's denied, it will be sent to the denied channel.

Submission Channel

This channel holds all open user submissions.

Closed Channel

If a submission is either marked as closed or done, it will be sent to this channel. It no closed channel is set, submissions will be gone after they are closed.

Denied Channel

If a submission gets denied, it will be moved to this channel. If no deny channel is set, submissions will be gone after they are denied.

Submission States

In Review

This is an optional state.
If a review channel is configured, submitted submissions are posted in this channel. Users with the moderator role (or higher) can approve/deny them.

Open

A submission is Open once approved (if a review channel is configured) or direclty on user submission (if no review channel is configured).

Users with the vote role can vote on open submissions.

Denied/Closed

Those are optional states.
Submissions in those states are closed for voting and moved to their corresponding channels (if configured).

General Discord Terms

General Discord terms which are either called this way by the Discord API or by Discord itself.

Server Owner

A server owner (sometimes also called "Guild Owner") is the owner, and most of the time creator, of the Discord server. It is a property inside Discord and there can only be one server owner at a time.

Administrator

"Administrator" is a role permission inside Discord. Users with a role that has administrator privileges have all permissions and can also bypass channel restrictions. Basically they have the same permissions as the server owner.

Since this is a dangerous permission to grant, Submitty has a administrator role implemented.

Ephemeral

An ephemeral message is a message that is only visible to one specific user. They are often used by commands to no spam the channel for other users. Ephemeral messages also vanish if you log out/in to Discord or switch the device.

Ephemeral messages always have a "Dismiss message" at the bottom
